Montana real estate license and CE requirements

What the Montana Board of Realty Regulation asks of licensees, with a link to the official source for every figure.

Last reviewed October 15, 2026. Next review due October 2027.

Montana renews every license every year: all Board of Realty Regulation licenses expire October 31, and each licensing year asks for 12 hours of continuing education. The board accepts courses approved through ARELLO, which widens the choice of providers.

Brokers who supervise others in Montana hold a supervising broker endorsement. Earning it takes an 8-hour approved course, and keeping it means 4 of each year's 12 hours must be supervising broker education. The board does not name other mandatory topics for salespersons.

Rules change. The Montana Board of Realty Regulation is the only authority on what you need to renew; where this page and the official source disagree, the official source is right. Blank figures say "Check with the Montana Board of Realty Regulation" because we could not confirm them from an official source.

Optional professional development

Once your CE is done, these ACI designations go deeper on the same ground as parts of the Montana requirements. They are voluntary, they are not CE, and you never need them to keep your license.
