Connecticut real estate license and CE requirements

Connecticut asks for 12 hours of continuing education every two years: a 3-hour mandatory course on Connecticut real estate license law plus 9 hours of electives. Salespersons and brokers run on offset windows, so the two groups take differently dated versions of the license law course and face different deadlines.
There is an unusual alternative here. Instead of sitting through the hours, a licensee may pass the 40-question Connecticut CE Examination during the cycle. The CE deadline falls three months before the renewal deadline, and the Department of Consumer Protection charges escalating late fees once it passes.

Rules change. The Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection, Real Estate Commission is the only authority on what you need to renew; where this page and the official source disagree, the official source is right. Blank figures say "Check with the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection, Real Estate Commission" because we could not confirm them from an official source.
