South Dakota's entry license is the broker associate. Every licensee renews every two years with 24 hours, at least half of them in required subject areas the South Dakota Real Estate Commission lists, from contracts and license law to antitrust, the Americans with Disabilities Act and property management.
New broker associates complete 60 postlicense hours split across their first two license periods, 30 in each, and those hours count toward renewal. Renewals are due by November 30. An inactive license needs no CE, but reactivating one takes 24 hours that cannot be reused.

Rules change. The South Dakota Real Estate Commission is the only authority on what you need to renew; where this page and the official source disagree, the official source is right. Blank figures say "Check with the South Dakota Real Estate Commission" because we could not confirm them from an official source.
