North Dakota renews every year, with 12 hours of continuing education due in the twelve months before the November 15 deadline. For the cycle running November 16, 2025 to November 15, 2026 there are no mandatory topics, so all 12 hours are electives of your choosing.
The North Dakota Real Estate Commission can set required topics for a cycle, and its rules mention areas such as fair housing, license law and ethics, agency and contracts. There is no grace period: a licensee who misses the deadline renews as inactive. Nonresident licensees meet the CE rules of their home state.

Rules change. The North Dakota Real Estate Commission is the only authority on what you need to renew; where this page and the official source disagree, the official source is right. Blank figures say "Check with the North Dakota Real Estate Commission" because we could not confirm them from an official source.
