Maine's entry-level sales agent license lasts two years and cannot be renewed. To keep practicing, a sales agent moves up to associate broker, which takes two years of practice, a 60-hour associate broker course and a core course. Continuing education therefore applies to associate brokers, brokers and designated brokers.
Each renewal requires 21 hours over two years, including a 3-hour core course the Maine Real Estate Commission revises from time to time. The current course is Reasonable Care and Diligence, and a new core course, Evolving Risk and Responsibility, takes effect April 1, 2027.

Rules change. The Maine Real Estate Commission is the only authority on what you need to renew; where this page and the official source disagree, the official source is right. Blank figures say "Check with the Maine Real Estate Commission" because we could not confirm them from an official source.
