Alaska real estate license and CE requirements

What the Alaska Real Estate Commission asks of licensees, with a link to the official source for every figure.

Last reviewed October 15, 2026. Next review due October 2027.

Alaska licensees renew every two years with 20 hours of continuing education, and 8 of those hours are designated topics the Alaska Real Estate Commission chooses fresh for each licensing period. For February 2026 through January 2028 the list reads like a snapshot of current risk: wire and deed fraud, advertising and AI compliance, broker supervision, and required disclosures.

The other 12 hours are electives, with a cap on how many can come from a single content area. Newly licensed agents carry an extra 30 hours of post-licensing education due within their first year, and those hours do not double as renewal CE. Someone licensed 90 days or less before a lapse date skips CE for that renewal.

Rules change. The Alaska Real Estate Commission is the only authority on what you need to renew; where this page and the official source disagree, the official source is right. Blank figures say "Check with the Alaska Real Estate Commission" because we could not confirm them from an official source.
